Description: The James D. McKinney Scholarship was established by Shelbyville Newspapers in 1999 to honor the memory of long-time editor, Jim McKinney. Eligible applicants are juniors or seniors in an accredited college or universities who have demonstrated excellent newspaper writing, reporting and/or editing skills who intend to become newspaper journalists. Applicants must have graduated from a Shelby County high school or North Decatur High School.
