If you would like to help…

If you would like to help ensure the success of the Morristown Imagination Library Program, now is a great time to make the most of your gift.  An anonymous donor has agreed to match all gifts from individuals with $.50 for each dollar until gifts from individuals total $10,000.  Please send a check to the Blue River Community Foundation, noting "Imagination Library" on the memo line.

The Morristown Area Imagination Library Project

The Morristown Area Imagination Library Project was begun through the passion and generosity of lifetime Morristown resident Bob Wortman.  Bob learned of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program through his work with the Hancock County Community Foundation, and felt so strongly about it that he began recruiting volunteers to bring the Program to the Morristown School District.  This Program mails one quality hard cover book per month to children ages birth to 5 years within a designated geographic area, free of charge to the family.  In order for a community to participate, volunteers must agree to raise money ($30.00 per child enrolled per year) to help pay for the cost of the books.

To help the Morristown community raise the money needed to participate in the Program, Bob asked the Foundation to set up an endowment fund to receive gifts to the Program.  Once this endowment fund reaches $200,000, it will generate sufficient grant money each year, year after year, to support the Program for all eligible children in the Morristown School District forever.

Bob has been quite successful in sharing his enthusiasm to recruit volunteers to bring the Program to Morristown.  In fact, he has been able to step back to allow others to move the process along, making himself available where ever he is needed most.

The Foundation is pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful opportunity for the Morristown community.  We are especially pleased to be able to provide a means through which Bob can achieve one of his charitable goals.
